02-Sep-2010  TIR PRINCE 6TH SEPTEMBER 2010

OH WHAT A NIGHT....If you have any interest in harness racing you have to be at Tir Prince on Monday 6th September. The nine race card starts at 7pm and what a card. Starting from race one where we expect something special from the maiden Pretty Special afficianados who watched it qualify at Tir Prince are expecting great things. In race two Oakview Prince and Poet Chi In Motion have both ran really well here this year. In the grade three and four race it is hard to pick a winner but at its best Tailgate Princess will take some stopping. The grade five and six race is a cracker, all eleven horses will fancy their chances, Portersdown Kirk has a proven record at Tir Prince but this may count for naught on the night. The first of five free for alls pitch horses with under £6000 winnings together with the draw being all important, the likely favourite is Dunlaoghaire who is in fantastic form and won at Tir Prince in 1.598 giving 30 yards and was a big winner at Tregaron last week. The trotters take the stage next in the final of the Trot Britain series where the imperious Uffra's Girl is going for a full house of wins. We then join S4C live for the final three races where Ayr Mission the sub two minute local horse is the likely favourite in the Welsh Cup final. At 9.55pm the place will go deathly quiet for the start of what could possibly be the best race ever staged in the UK, the final of the Crock of Gold. Eight horses on the gate with the draw being important but it did not go to plan last year when the well drawn Crown Manhattan made a mistake at the gate and after a tactical race Earned Income stormed home with an incredible last quarter. This wonderful horse strode to a relatively easy win at Tregaron last week and was an easy second behind a Few Dollars More in 1.567 in August and holds the Irish Record. Crown Manhattan who just had its UK and Tir Prince records taken from it will try to make amends for last year but a Few Dollars More must fancy its chances after breaking the track record here last time in 1.562. However the crowd may well fancy the fabulous Doonbeg, the million $ winner from North America who is now finding his feet and smashed the UK and British record at Amman Valley the other week in 1.537 an undreamt of time for those of us in the sport, he is to be reacquainted with driver Jody Jamieson one of the worlds top drivers who drove him in the final of the Little Brown Jug in 2006 and who has just driven Hypnotic Blue Chip to a divisional world record in 1.472. The field is made up of double Crock of Gold winner Scoot Around, this horse always performs well and set an age record earlier in the year at York, Stoneriggs Chris was a good winner here, the Welsh favourite Wexford Beach and Cutchall Hanover make up the field.

The final race of the night and possibly the last ever at Tir Prince is the One Mile Billy Williams Free For All, the last two years this race has been won in faster times than the Crock of Gold by Lyons Mach 1 and Matador Hall. This year Laneside Lexus possibly the UK's finest filly (a 1.57 horse here) takes on a nine horse field including the UK 1.25 mile record holder He's For Real, ex Crock of Gold winner Connors Dragon the big winner at Tregaron Immpartial but the other five will all fancy their chances with the right draw.
01-Sep-2010  TREGARON TROTTING FESTIVAL 2010

Earned Income wins the Crock of Gold heat but Immpartial steps up to win The Welsh Classic Final - Uffra Girl once again shows her supremacy in winning Trot Britain Grass Final - William Rocker Laidler steams away with the Drivers championship, Georgina Nicholson wins Top Lady Driver - Whilst the the new 'Bob Meadowcroft' Young Drivers Trophy goes to Rhys Evans.

31-Aug-2010  JODY JAMIESON TO DRIVE DOONBEG AT TIR PRINCE

Jody Jamieson one of the top drivers from North America was due to come on holiday to Britain but due to the unfortunate accident to Jonathan Dunne at Tregaron he has agreed to drive Doonbeg in what promises to be the finest ever Crock of Gold final on Monday 6th September. We believe he has driven Doonbeg in the final of the Little Brown Jug so he knows the horse well. Jody has just DRIVEN Hypnotic Blue Chip to a divisional world record in 1.472 in the William R Haughton Memorial in North America.

David Senior added "Although unfortunate for Jonathan Dunne having Jody here will add an even bigger attraction for what promises to be a great night with at least 5 free for alls, featuring the four fastest horses in Britain in the Crock of Gold finals, a superb Billy Williams Free for All, the final of the S4C Welsh Cup and the final of the Trot Britain series where the wonderfull trotter Uffra's Girl goes for a full house of wins. Lets show Jody how much noise a Tir Prince crowd can make and how great British Harness Racing can be."

25-Aug-2010  TIR PRINCE - CROCK OF GOLD FINALS NIGHT MONDAY 6th SEPTEMBER

The next meeting, and possibly the last at Tir Prince, will be held on Monday 6th September. Already a lot of interest is being shown for entries, definite races are:- Crock of Gold Final One Mile Free For All - Trot Britain Final One Mile Free For All - The Billy Williams Memorial One Mile Free For All - The Welsh Cup Final One Mile Free For All.

This is sure to be a cracking nights racing as Tir Prince's David Senior commented " It may be our last meeting but we are hoping it will be our best as we have lined up probably the finest Crock of Gold final ever to be staged as four of the fastest horses ever seen in Britain are due to go head to head, Doonbeg, Earned Income, Crown Manhattan and For a Few Dollars More the 8 finalists will be decided at Tregaron this week. We have the final of the Trot Britain Trot series where track specialist Uffra's Girl goes for a full house of wins at Tir Prince, the final of the Welsh Cup where local favourite Ayr Mission aims to continue its good run of form and the final race of the night will be the Billy Williams One Mile Free for All £1000 1st prize. It is bound to be fabulous racing but obviously tinged with sadness as it will be the end of Adams' fathers dream." There will be a late bar and disco.
