Sire Stakes Update

6Dec

As many of you know, earlier in the year we announced that a panel had been formed to review the Sire Stakes and it conditions due to the dwindling numbers of horses nominated and racing. The following changes have been put in place to see if it will help to boost the numbers however, we are always happy for further input from license holders.

Nominations:
Nomination of yearlings will now have a deadline of the 31st of October, this will allow anyone who purchases a yearling in the sales who was not nominated by the breeder to put them in without penalty. Nomination fee £50.

Supplements:
You will no longer be able to supplement 2/3 year olds into the series. Supplements will only be allowed until the 31st of December in the horses yearling year after this point only nominated horses will be eligible. Supplement fee £100.

Race Date:
Due to poor numbers of 2 year olds being put forwards to the series the panel have made the decision to move the 2 year old race date to mid July. The 3 year old race date will remain in September.

2 & 3 Year Old Sustaining Fees:
The £100 sustaining fee has now been split into two more manageable payments of £50 to be taken on the 1st of February and the 1st of April. This has been done to try and help to spread the burden of the stakes payments.

Stallions UK and Ireland:
As of 2023 Stallions standing at stud in both UK and Ireland will be eligible for nomination into the series. This will mean their foals born in 2024 will be eligible.
