It is with regret and after careful consideration the committee of Brough Athletic Sports Society has unfortunately taken the decision to cancel this year’s races due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The spread of Covid-19 at large group gatherings poses a significant risk to health. We feel as a committee we would not be able to enforce social distancing measures and provide adequate hand washing facilities. We feel we have a duty of care not only to our staff, public and competitors but also to the local community.

Sadly racing behind closed doors would not be viable for us as we rely heavily on our gate money to cover our overheads.

We hope the BHRC and its licence holders understand the difficult situation we as promoters are in. We very much look forward to racing back at Brough (Appleby) in 2021.
